University of Saint Mary's MSN Program Outcomes Evaluation
Graduates of the MSN Program will:
*Roach, M.S. (1992) The human act of caring: A blueprint for the health professions.
Ottawa, Ontario: Canadian Hospital Association Press.
(permission to copy and distribute a chapter from this book.) (University of Saint Mary Nursing Department Masters in Science in Nursing [Handbook], 2014-2015, p. 11).
I achieved the MSN Program outcomes by participating in discussion, unfolding case studies, evidence-based practice research, and capstone experience. Through literature and discussion I was able to gain knowledge on how informatics can be utilized best in the nursing field including education. During discussions we also gained skills on interprofessional relationships and gain other colleagues perspectives. Working as a team through group projects helped increase collaboration and compromise.
Learning to educate the future nurses creates a bridge from instructor to patient. In order for patients to gain the best patient-centered, quality care, educators need to be aware of policies, evidence-based practice, and culturally competent. The student population is also in need of student-centered care. The University of Saint Mary's MSN program encourages graduates to integrate the 5 C's of caring into their education. These caring concepts are integrated from discussion to capstone. I am able to utilize these skills in my profession and do every day.
